Athens - Malissa Grace Harrison Daniel, 88, of Athens, died September 8, 2005 at her home, Magnolia Estates. Born May 6, 1917 in Bethlehem, GA to the late Minnie Lee Tanner and James Thomas Harrison, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Russell (Billy) Daniel, Jr., and siblings, Earnest Harrison, Betty Ruth Baggett, and James Harrison.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 11, 2:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Bob Bohler and Charles Cook will officiate.
Grace was a homemaker and an active member of Central Presbyterian Church of Athens. She was generous of her time volunteering for Bible School, Sunday School, Circle Leader, President of the Women of the Church and for Meals-on-Wheels. Grace was a member and past president of the Bobbin Mill Garden Club, Rose and Dahlia Garden Club, the Tuesday Afternoon Sewing Club, Athens Country Club Womenís Golf Association and an avid bridge player.
Survivors include a son, Russ Daniel and daughter-in-law, Cookie; daughters Melissa Daniel Vasenden, Genia Daniel Bennett, Dee Daniel Scarborough and sons-in-law, Arvid Vasenden, Ray Bennett and Dean Scarborough; brother, Middleton Cleaton Harrison, Sylvester; sister, Mary Blount Hamilton, Waycross; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
