  • Notes
    • William was an Old Harp Singer. They sang the shaped notes without accompaniment. The sane the scale, "fa, so, la." William Hull loved to sing, and he had a beautiful clear voice. After he moved away from Bethlehem, he always tried to go back the first Sunday in May for a singing. One year he was in Jug Tavern, Now Winder. Dr. Harris saw him and asked, "Uncle Bill, (everyone called him Uncle Bill or Saggar Bill), are you on your way to Bethlehem?"

      Grandpa said "Yes."

Dr. Harris told him to wait a little while and he would take him in his car. The automobile was a rarety then. Dr. Harris said that Grandpa told him he could stop this side of Bethlehem. Grandpa hopped out of the car, drew himself up straight and said, "Thank you, Ernest, for flying me down here."
